Ian Siegal – sabato 28 giugno

AmenoBlues-2014-band_webrez-ian-siegelHe’s jammed with some of the biggest names in the business, sung with the prestigious ONJ orchestra in Paris, toured in 25 countries, and his next CD is a BBC recording made at the Royal Albert Hall.

Ian Siegal may not be a household name but for those “in the know” he is among the most exciting and powerful singers on the contemporary blues-rock scene. And while he is perhaps best known as a bluesman – originally inspired by the likes of Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf – it is just one shade in the palette of an artist who slips between continents, eras and expectations.

A typical Siegal show is a rollercoaster of emotions, powerful lyrics, and driving rhythms. Don’t be surprised if, in the middle of a song, he switches to a Prince-inspired funky workout signalling to his band with a staccato stamp of his foot; or if suddenly he decides to silence the band completely and whisper the lyrics into the microphone. In fact, he takes command of the stage in a way very few artists alive today can match.

Last year Siegal picked up four awards in the UK and Europe, and was nominated for best album in two prestigious American awards.
